Head Chef “Vatchara Semak” was born in a small rural village on the out skirts of Bangkok Thailand. Raised by his single mother money was always tight. At the age of 12 his friends older brother who worked at a local restaurant in Bangkok found him a job as a pot washer. He began learning the skills in a noisy, bustling kitchen. Spending 4 years progressing from washing pots to sous chef. At the age of 16, he decided to explore, learn new recipes and techniques. This led him to travel around Thailand working in various hotels honing in on his skills.

He then got an opportunity for a better life in the UK, working at a Thai restaurant in London. His employer soon realised his potential and his instinct for natural flavours and made him Head Chef, where he spent almost 15 years.

It was during this time where he met Martin and his wife Pinney.

Pinney, is from Korat, Thailand. A place close to his village so they naturally had lots to talk about and their friendship soon blossomed. This is where the vision of Korat Thai was born.

Pinney, growing up in Korat surrounded by its natural scenery of waterfalls, rivers, jungles, reservoirs. Imagine a picturesque stream of clear, emerald-coloured water flowing down to the nearby orchards. Her idea was to bring a little bit of Korat to England where she can always feel close to home.

At Korat Thai, we have focused on our ultimate flavours. We believe we have found the perfect team and location. We hope you can enjoy being part of it with us.
